Christmas Outfits

This year my family and I celebrated christmas at my grandmothers house. It's a really old and picturesque place, to say the least! To me, it's the perfect ”lolita environment”, aesthetically speaking. Her dining/living room, where we spent most of our time, has a really old-fashioned look to it. She practically lives in a tiny village in the forest though, so getting access to decent wifi is quite the hassle (quiet sobbing). But I had stuffed my bag full of pretty frills, fun games n' movies and other old school entertainment anyway, so I was fine!

Christmas Eve

Outfit Rundown:

Dress:Innocent world
Head bow: Innocent world
Ankle socks: Bodyline
Blouse, cardigan, accessories: off brand

I got a teacup drenched in cupcakes from my parents. I naturally had to pose with it...

Christmas day, a nightmare in pink!

I decided that pink was the new red, and went all out in pastels to go visit my cousins.

My cat makes the cutest background element, don't you think?

Outfit Rundown:

Sweater: Milklim
Skirt: Bodyline
Tights: Kawaii Carneval
Accessories: 6%dokidoki, moonbunny, off brand

Love these tights so much!

When I got home I also found i nice surprise in the mail: the Innocent World Mook! I had some complications before getting it, but it finally made its way home to me. So excited!

I hope everyone has been having a lovely time!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas has always been my favorite holiday to celebrate. Lots of food, sweets, cute decorations, and of course, lots of love and caring! Where I live it's also very dark and cold around this time of year, so all the christmas lights are very uplifting and refreshing. So despite december being the darkest month of the year, I have always associated it with light and warmth.

I hope you all have a lovely week whether you celebrate any festivity or not <3

Monday inspiration: the day, before the day, before the day...

Or just the day before the day, if you live in Sweden and christmas eve is the day of the party for most people. (we also have this crazy habit of watching "Donald Duck and His Friends" every year. Or, in reality, it's more like a little Disney medley with all our favorite classics. What could be better?)

I find so much inspiration to draw from christmas, I could probably spend way to much time babbling about it, but I'll save that for another time!

Rather than talking, I thought I would try to increase my polyvore skills and combine all my love for christmas with fun lolita and fairy kei fashion ideas for this holiday!

Christmas Letter

Christmas Letter

Sending and receiving post and letters are always fun, and the holiday season seems to be overflowing with the cutest of cards. I decided to work around Innocent World's "Rabbit Letter" print in red. The cute little rabbits make me think of how happy a simple greeting can make you, even if it's in form of a written one! And I can't help but get this romantic picture of sitting by an antique desk, dressed in luxurious frills, putting the words on rose scented paper, as you pour love and warmth through the inc of your feather pen. Sorry, it just won't get out!

Glitter Angel

Glitter Angel

Who said it had to be deep red and green to be suitable for christmas? I figured it would be fun to work with themes, and decided to go with angels for this one, since the dress has a cross in the front, and a pair of wings in the back. To make it a little more holiday-ish I also decided to go with some glitter and gold, to make it sparkle a little more.

Candy Deer

Candy Deer

Another fun theme I could think of. Rudolph and the red tutu? Yup!

This was my second time trying out polyvore, so it took me lots of time just to find everything I wanted and ad it to my own items, not to mention getting everything to look the way I wanted it to. But it was fun non the less, putting together outfits without actually having to buy the outfit first...

Have you planned your christmas outfit?

Monday Inspiration: Microwaveable Sweets

Sometimes I have sudden, intense sugar cravings. Sometimes I'm short on time. Sometimes I'm just lazy. Sometimes it's a combination of all those things. Therefor I love microwave recepies! They're often super simple to follow, and it doesn't take much time to make them. Perfect for spontanious snacks.

Fun Friday

This friday I met up with a friend, because I was going to return her hair curler that I've been keeping forever. Since we both are relatively new owners of a Rhapsody wig, we thought it would be fun to wear them.

Outfit:
Blouse: Bodyline
Skirt: Pinkly Ever After
Wig: Ebay
Accesories: 6 % Dokidoki, Kawaii Carneval & Moon Bunny
I Don't remeber where I got the belt...

Need much fuel to keep up the kawaii... I was being photographed without my knowledge ;)

It was a really fun afternoon!

Today I also decided to decorate my room a little, to get my christmas spirit up! I've been decorating my bookcase for the past 3 years now, and it always ads so much color to my room. I kind of think it looks like a cute little shop window ^-^

Messy bookcase is messy.

Monday Inspiration: Soothing Hot Drinks

There is something about hot beverages: they're comforting somehow. They are warming, and they infuse some kind of peacefulness whenever I sit down with a steaming cup of tea, chocolate or anything of the sort.

A while ago my friend found one of the most awesome recipe ever: a butterbeer (latte) recipe! We tried it, and we were overwhelmed with the results! I thought I'd share it, since it was not very difficult at all, and, come on, it's butterbeer!

It's has a very, very sweet taste ~ Almost a little too much in the end, but still!

Other than that I'm currently looking for a good indian chai recipe to try out (I know I could just use tea bags, but I love the idea of boiling different spices and stuff together).

I still have yet to try this out, but it does look delicious!

My current favorite things to do when I get home in the afternoon is to take a cup of "mocha coffee". I just take a cup, ad about 1-2 tea spoons of cocoa powder and some vanilla sugar (regular sugar works fine too) pour some coffee, stir it (otherwise the cocoa will get lumpy and stick to the bottom of the cup) and then I pour in the rest of the coffee. Lastly I ad some cream. Super simple (I usually cheat and use instant coffee, which is even simpler...)

What is your favorite hot drink this winter?

Christmas Fair and Happy ILD

Every year my family and I attend a local christmas fair. It's a tradition that has been going on pretty much ever since I was born. I don't think I've missed a year. Phew. Talk about being persistent!

But I really enjoy it, and thus, I'm looking forward to go every year. It puts me in a good christmas mood, and the location is an adorable open air museum with lots of old, beautiful buildings and shops.

Christmas shopping~ it was a very windy day, so I purchased the hat at the fair (I kind of needed one too). The lady who sold it to me was very sweet!

We had some tea at a really cute cafe! The pastry looks better than it tasted though.

I'm not a great photographer, but I hope you can get a better picture of what the museum looks like!

Outfit rundown:

Skirt: Handmade by my grandmother and me
Blouse and socks: Innocent World
Accessories: off brand
Coat: Baby, the Stars Shine Bright

I'd also like to wish you all a happy International Lolita Day! I just spent my day baking some christmas treats with my family, and went to see a movie that some of my friends made (it was a totally hilarious zombie parody. They're really talented!) I didn't really have the time to dress up, but I think it was a great day non the less.

How was your ILD?

Monday Inspiration: Cute, Relaxing Music

I do love catchy, upbeat music - it's wonderful to walk to a fast beat while strolling, or dance to (or at least I attempt to dance), but I love soft, sweet music just as much!

I think it's especially cozy now, when it's so dark and cold (at least if you live a bit up north, haha) to put on a playlist of the easier kind. Whether it be  a muted background sound while doing household chores, riding the bus after (or before) a busy day, or just casual music listening in general.

These are some of my current favorites:

What's on your playlist right now?

Shirunuri Make Up! By Minori

Shironuri really takes the dollish look to new dimensions. It kind of reminds me of a delicate porcelain tea set. But instead of teacups and saucers it's living people.  If you're not familiar with the term it's not really complicated at all - it's basically a make up style where you paint your face completely white. Like a chalk.

Apart from that it's not unusual to ad other elements such as gemstones, flower petals, beautifully placed eyeshadow, more creepy appearances and a long list of creative ways to decorate your face. The sky is the limit, and the result is a surreal kind of beauty.

The two pictures above are of Minori. I admire this woman so much!

Minori is a big shironuri icon, and her very inspiring looks have brought attention to this flamboyant style. While I have certainly found a few tutorials and instructions on this topic, I was really happy to see a tutorial by Minori herself pop up in my youtube recomendations.

Even though I don't necessarily plan on getting into this kind of make up myself (at this current moment anyway) I find it very inspiring and interesting to look at. I think what makes it so enchanting are the contrasts. It's like soft water colors, popping out from the paper, coming alive. The Walking Art Much? Sorry... Either way, I really hope these people will keep inspire others to do what makes them happy, and help us see what wonderfully beautiful things can be achieved when we do.

A simple fairy

As someone who is stuck at the employment agency (current no. 1 mission: getting a drivers license) I must admit I haven't really been minding my looks when I get up in the morning. Some BB cream, a plain sweater and, if I have the time, some simple hair styling. Which is really boring to me, since I love getting all dolled up in the morning. It's like a ritual to summon energy. The lack of this has, without me realizing it, been quite tiring.

Today I decided to get back into an old habit of mine: dressing up for friday. I invented it when I was still attending school. Sometimes I feel that I need a reason to look all fancy, and I thought "celebrating the end of the week" was legit enough.

Milklims Ice Cat Sweater is so cute and comfortable!

I got up a few minutes earlier than usual to get ready. I decided to go for a simple fairy kei outfit, as I didn't want to overdo it. In the end, I felt very happy and comfortable with my look.

Almost no accessories - I'm not used to wear them at all lately!

My supervisor complimented me on my outfit, and even recognized it as a japanese fashion! I was happily surprised. She seemed quite interested and asked what it was called, so I gave her a brief introduction to fairy kei.

It's kind of amazing how nice it can feel to look a certain way, and today reminded me of that. I sometimes fall into phases when I give in to the idea that everyone will think I'm weird and attention seeking when in reality all I want to do is feel confident and cute.

It doesn't have to be over the top to bring joy! :3

Monday Inspiration: lovley, creative pancakes!

So this has absolutely no relation to fashion what so ever, but it deals with a pretty important part of life - motivation.

I absolutely despise mondays, and I'm certainly not alone. So in a sudden flash of inspiration I thought to myself: "why can't I make motivation myself?" You know... like a potion! (darn that Hogwarts letter...)

Haveing something to look forward to is important, to me at least. As long as I have a simple goal that is not to far out of reach I usually manage to get by.

So my idea is simple: a little series  with a small energy boost to help kick start the week. It will be nothing revolutionary or eyeopening. Just a collection of positive spirit (and probably a high content of sugar - literally. Just look at the title of this week!) and things that hopefully will make this damned weekday a little less dull :3

And on to today's subject: Oh, wonderful Pancakes!

When I was little I would jump in excitement whenever we were having pancakes at home. Now I could make my own whenever I feel like it, but they usually don't come to my mind that often for some reason.

However, I've managed to collect some recipes (mainly thanks to tumblr...) that I'm dying to try: Like these chocolate pancakes or what about these chocolate chip ones?

Chocolate, cookies AND pancakes? Yes please!

Or, if you're on the creative side of the kitchen, how about turning your food into art?

I'd love to invite some friends to a pancake party someday, with lots of cute characters to fill our stomachs with! Perhaps with various Sanrio characters?

But since drawing things in a frying pan seems a bit to time consuming for me, I guess I should just consider getting a cute pancake pan instead...

Would you mind waking up and have Rilakkuma pancakes for breakfast every now and then?
Or do you prefer yours as plain as possible?

So that's all for now! Until next time! (^-^)

Package from Pinkly Ever After

Yesterday I received a pink, bright package. I was so happy when I collected it from the post office, and really exited to see the content. I wasn't disappointed!

The packaging was adorable - and so was the inside!

It was a long, mint colored skirt from Pinkly Ever After!

When I saw the stock photo of this skirt I got that "omg it's perfect" feeling, and I decided not to let it pass.

The skirt is so soft and comfortable, and the color is just lovly. I am super pleased with my purchase, and I really hope I will be able to get more stuff from this cute brand in the future!

I got these cuties along with a little note as well! (^-^)

I'm really looking forward to wear this, and I think it'll be a favorite among my skirts. Along with a pair of thick tights and a sweater and it will probably be really warm and cozy during wintertime too!

Birthday Celebration in Baby, the Stars Shine Bright!

Apart from going to the theatre this weekend, I also celebrated my mothers birthday! My mother has always been encouraging about lolita, and she helped me pick out a coord for this special day!

One peace from Baby, the Stars Shine Bright. The rest is offbrand.

And a little close up on my large necklace!

It was a nice day, and I think everyone enjoyed it very much. I love dressing up for special ocations too, so I was really happy!

Shrek the Musical

I just love going to the theatre! I suppose part of it is because I'm fond of acting myself, but also because it can be such a magical experience! You can get so drawn into it, almost as if you were actually there, and it just has a special touch to it that modern media can't convey in the same  manner (not that i don't enjoy modern media).

Lovely pastry, devoured during the intermission

So this weekend me and my family went to see the musical version of Shrek. While I must admit nothing could beat the original movie it was still very fun to watch. I kind of missed the original soundtrack a little, but i was really impressed by the props. They were amazing!

Just look at this beauty, casually soaring across the scene!

This is what I wore:
Blouse, jsk and hair clips form IW ~

I wore a very toned down outfit because i wanted to feel relaxed during the show.

All in all it was a really nice evening, and I did leave the theatre with a smiling face and a mix of nostalgia and positivity!

Is there any musical you've been wanting to see lately?
